La Leche League's Mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
La Leche League USA (LLL USA) is committed to diversity and inclusion. LLL USA supports all breastfeeding, chest feeding, and human milk feeding families, inclusive of their race, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, primary language, ability, or socio-economic status. LLL USA fosters diversity among its Leaders so as to incorporate a wide variety of perspectives and responsible decision-making.
Find us on Facebook! Visit LLL of NY and LLL International for even more support.
As you all may know La Leche League is an international non-for-profit organization with local groups that provides FREE breastfeeding support and information.
The way we are able to reach mothers and help them achieve their breastfeeding goals is through volunteers called leaders. Although, the support to mothers is absolutely free, it does cost the local groups to maintain themselves to pay for leader dues, insurance, handouts, and continuing education.
We raise the funds each year through memberships, donations and leader contributions.
Each leader is here working at our local group because once upon a time we had breastfeeding questions and needed support ourselves and another leader was there for us. We pay it forward to keep breastfeeding information and support available for FREE in our neighborhoods.
If you are reading this message you probably know how valuable La Leche League support is for a new mom. You are probably asking yourself how you can help too and pay it forward. Here is a list of suggested opportunities for you to get involved:

- Attend a meeting or answer a question for another mom through online forums! Our information is enriched through mother-to-mother support.
- Become a member! Our local annual membership fee of $40 helps keep LLL Queens running... That's less than $4 per month.
- Become a meeting helper! We need group moms to help leaders host meetings, greet moms, set-up the rooms we use before and after, help us get the word out about local meetings.
- Become more involved and consider becoming a La Leche League volunteer leader. We are always interested in moms who would want to represent Queens LLL and go through the leader application process: interested mom must be a member of our group, have nursed for at least 12 months, and have attended the 4 series meetings.
